Cannabix Technologies Inc. and Omega have collaborated to optimize the design of the Cannabix BCU and compact Breath Cartridge technology. &nbsp;The BCU includes a start-up unit air flow self-check, the ability to collect an ambient air sample to rule out external contamination from the immediate surrounding area, a split sample configured Breath Cartridge to simultaneously collect an A and B sample, and a collection system that will stop drawing in air should the donor stop breathing into the device. Since 1988, organizations that are required to perform Federal Workplace Drug Testing have been limited to the use of urine specimens. Many motor carriers have chosen to go above and beyond the federal requirements and have added hair testing to ensure that they are screening out potentially dangerous employees. This comes at a cost, as these companies are still required to pay for the currently mandated urine testing as well. Hair specimen testing provides a significantly longer detection window, is very difficult to adulterate, and eliminates collection issues associated with urine. The Omega 510(k) submissions were evaluated by the FDA at a much more stringent level than those submissions cleared over a decade ago. Omega's 510(k) submissions averaged over 7,000 pages in length, and included extensive studies involving precision, agreement, stability, recovery, and possible effects of contamination. Omega also researched the possible effects of different hair cosmetic treatments including multiple coloring products, straighteners/relaxers, and shampoos specifically marketed to evade a drug test. Hair color, curvature, body location (head or body), and ethnic origin of the samples were analyzed to ensure that a diverse population was represented in the studies.
In addition to having clearance for Marijuana Metabolite testing, Omega has FDA clearance for Cocaine, Methamphetamine, PCP, Opiates and is currently the only hair testing laboratory to have FDA clearance for Codeine, Oxycodone, and Hydrocodone testing.
